Gillette College Foundation’s Scholar Spotlight!
Meet Brandie Neufer, recipient of the Dick Erb Memorial Scholarship through the Gillette College Foundation.
Brandie comes to Gillette from Worland, Wyoming. Overall, this is her 5th year with NWCCD and she will graduate from the nursing program in May. Brandie is also a student ambassador and a Resident Assistant (RA) for Tanner Village. She is currently dually enrolled through Gillette College and the University of Wyoming, where she is on track to obtain her bachelor’s in December 2019. She is also considering pursing her masters and possibly a doctorate through the University of Wyoming. In the next 10 years, Brandie sees herself as a Nurse Practitioner in rural Wyoming, running her own family practice clinic.
The scholarship Brandie received has made obtaining her education less of a struggle. Brandie expressed her extreme gratitude and said school would have been nearly impossible without her scholarship taking away the stress of having to work fulltime.
In her time with Gillette College, Brandie has enjoyed experiencing the diversity in cultures, religions, and ethnicities of various students. She has expanded her communication styles and feels these experiences will make her a better nurse, more able to relate to her patients in the future. Her advice for upcoming students is, “Apply for every scholarship, even if you don’t know if you qualify, try anyway.”
Brandie’s favorite thing about being a Gillette College student is being an RA. She loves the interaction will all kinds of students and getting to meet new people.
The Gillette College Foundation cannot wait to see where Brandie’s cheerful, positive attitude and humble heart lead her. We are proud to feature Brandie Neufer as one of our Spotlight Scholars!
