Gillette College Foundation’s Scholar Spotlight!
Meet Elisa Gonzalez, recipient of the Richard Bratton Memorial Scholarship through the Gillette College Foundation.
Elisa was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming but moved to Gillette when she was young. She is a Westwood graduate and her passion for nursing was evident in her enthusiasm and excitement as she spoke of her current job at the Legacy. She is currently enrolled in the Gillette College nursing program, with plans to pursue her bachelor’s degree through the University of Wyoming. In the next 10 years, Elisa sees herself as a traveling nurse or with a career in the Intensive Care Unit of Campbell County Health. She emphasized, “I’ll be happy anywhere, as long as I can be a nurse!”
The scholarship Elisa received has helped her tremendously, as she is completely on her own for paying for education. “I am very thankful for it,” Elisa expressed.
In her time at Gillette College, Elisa has learned perseverance, thanks in part to the people she has been surrounded by. “Everyone pushes you to keep going, and believes you can do it. Everyone is supportive and I have had such a good time.” Her advice for other students is to take things seriously. “This is your future, get everything you can out of it.”
Elisa’s favorite thing about being a Gillette College student has been the people. She has met amazing, diverse people in the dorms and in her classes.
The Gillette College Foundation cannot wait to see where Elisa’s love for people and servant’s heart take her in life. We are proud to feature Elisa Gonzalez in our weekly Scholar Spotlight!
