James Soesbe

Gillette College Foundation’s Scholar Spotlight!

Meet James Soesbe, recipient of the John Lavrenz Scholarship through the Gillette College Foundation.

James was born and raised in Gillette, and now resides just down the road in Moorcroft.  He is married with children and is employed in the L&H Industrial machine shop.  He is currently working towards his associates as a machinist.  In the next 10 years, he hopes to still be with L&H.  He appreciates how much they have helped out with his education in terms of a flexible schedule and a tuition reimbursement program.

This scholarship has helped cover what financial aid may not.  “The less you owe at the end, the better,” he chuckled.

In his time at Gillette College, James has learned about balancing different aspects in life (family, work school) to make it all come together successfully.  His words of advice for other students is to always do your best.  “If your best is a ‘B’ that’s okay, but give it all you have.”

James’ favorite thing about being a Gillette College student has been his shop classes where he can spend extra time doing what he enjoys.

Thank you, James Soesbe, for being this week’s Gillette College Foundation Scholar Spotlight!
