Gillette College Foundation’s Scholar Spotlight!
Meet Waylon Rader, recipient of the Institute of Supply Management Scholarship through the Gillette College Foundation.
Waylon was born and raised in Gillette, and has lived in several states in his adult life. This is Waylon’s third time in college. The first time, he wasn’t quite ready to focus on education and went out into the workforce. The second time, he obtained his AAS in diesel mechanics with high honors from Gillette College. He is now majoring in business, and plans to pursue his bachelor’s and potentially an MBA. The timing of his continued education will depend on job opportunities; however, he sees himself climbing the ladder of executive management in the next 10 years.
The scholarship Waylon received has helped relieve the financial stress of obtaining books and tuition, and has led to his success as a student. In his time with Gillette College, he has learned to be more organized and to adhere to a schedule as strictly as possible. His words of advice for upcoming students is to make sure they are ready to pursue an education, and, “You get out what you put in.”
Waylon’s favorite thing about being a Gillette College student is the interaction with instructors and students, and being able to be a positive role model for younger students.
The Gillette College Foundation is pleased to feature Waylon Rader this week in our Scholar Spotlight!
